This iPad version of PAC-MAN translates perfectly recaptures the pill-munching fun of the classic arcade game.
The object of PAC-MAN is, of course, to gobble up all of the pink pills without getting eaten by the ghosts. If you eat a flashing pill then the ghosts turn blue for a few seconds, meaning you can run into them to send them back to their home in the center of the maze.
There are three different ways you can control PAC-MAN for iPad. You can choose to move PAC-MAN by swiping the screen, by using the on-screen joystick, or by tilting the phone. Swiping is probably the most comfortable of the three but it would’ve been nice to have the option of placing the joystick wherever you like. It feels a bit awkward stuck out there on the left of the screen and being right-handed I would’ve preferred to switch the side, or at least put it in the middle.
PAC-MAN for iPad looks and plays almost exactly the same as it did in the arcades 30 years ago. This isn't that surprising given that this version has been published by Namco, who came up with the original.
Perhaps PAC-MAN is looking a little old fashioned now, but fans of the original will not be disappointed by this faithful remake.
